Mayesbrook Year 10 and 11 students explore the wonders of science at the Science Museum
On Tuesday, 15th October 2024, Mayesbrook’s students from Mayesbrook Park campus took a trip to the Science Museum. The trip, designed to enrich students understanding of scientific principles, focused on connecting curriculum topics with historical and practical applications. Students explored exhibits featuring scientific equipment and interactive displays, enabling them to take a broader view of their future possibilities.
Students shared their enthusiasm for the experience, reflecting on how it opened their minds to new scientific perspectives.
Year 11 student Mitchell said: ‘It was pretty cool. Was nice to see science outside the lesson’. Jawhar echoed this, saying, ‘I loved how the Science Museum has lots of interactive activities to help us understand.’
Alanah found the hands-on exhibits particularly valuable, saying: ‘The interactive part of the Science Museum helped me see how the topics we learn in class are used in real life and Literas appreciated the historical aspect of the trip, saying: ‘It was good; I really enjoyed looking at the historical science equipment and seeing how it has developed over time.’
The trip to the Science Museum not only strengthened students’ grasp of the scientific curriculum but also encouraged them to consider diverse and exciting careers in science, by connecting classroom lessons with real-world science.
