Students explore the history of slavery at London Docklands Museum

On Friday 31st January students from Years 7 to 11 from our Erkenwald campus visited the London Docklands Museum as part of the schools ongoing Race and Social Justice work. The visit was an opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of the history of slavery, a significant topic in both their history and personal development studies. Through interactive exhibits and historical artifacts they learned about the transatlantic slave trade and how London’s docks played a role in this history.

Students were particularly engaged in discovering where the ships used to arrive and the stories of those affected by slavery. The trip encouraged meaningful discussions and reflections, enhancing their awareness of historical injustices.

This visit was a valuable experience that not only supported the curriculum but also helped students develop a greater sense of historical awareness and empathy.
